Jackalope Collective was born from the belief that learning is a lifelong pursuit — for humans of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences — and for anyone trying to make sense of the world while nurturing it at the same time. Chispa is our connection to what makes us human: a spark.
Where It All Began
Jackalope Collective's founder, Jaclyn Avellán (she/her) is a seasoned K–12 digital curriculum publisher, creative designer, and lifelong learner. After years spent in event management, educational and therapeutic settings, curriculum development, and the work of parenting a little human, she set out to build something that brought it all together: a space where learning and play meet purpose.
The idea for Jackalope Collective started like a wildfire sparked in the midst of hardship and grief. Amidst health struggles and personal loss, Jackalope burst forth from a desire to create something that would foster connection and help people feel seen.
The seed of both Jackalope Collective and CHISPA was planted in 2019. But as life unfolded: through hard times, becoming a parent, and ultimately deep reflection; it wasn’t until 2024 that the vision finally demanded to be brought to life.
It was through experiencing parenthood and through years of deep conversations with educators, parents, and professionals alike, that a common thread emerged: When we experience life’s greatest and most universal challenges, so many of us feel more isolated than ever.
Jackalope Collective is meant to be a bridge, an extended hand, and gathering place for people who believe that learning can be joyful, inclusive, and revolutionary.
We’ve seen the power of creativity unlock confidence.
We’ve seen how community support can carry people through.
And we know that curiosity is more than just a learning tool, it’s a spark for change.
Why “CHISPA”?
Chispa which means spark in Spanish, reflects what this space is all about.
