We’re so glad you’re here and curious to learn more! Jackalope Collective is a creative studio and learning resource hub designed to support families, educators, and curious minds of all ages.

We aim to provide responsibly sourced items in our shop while working with makers, creators, and artists who celebrate milestones, make everyday moments special, encourage continuous learning and discovery, and champion community care.

In-house, we create playful printables, thoughtful stationery, hands-on activities, and meaningful content that celebrates learning, creativity, and the ups and downs of life. Our goal is to offer tools that feel special, useful, and rooted in real life.

Why Jackalope?

The jackalope is a mythical creature of North American folklore said to be part jackrabbit and part antelope. To us, represents something rare, a little magical, and full of wild possibility. It symbolizes the beautiful blend of wonder and wildness we see in discovery, childhood, and creativity and it serves as a reminder to stay curious, brave, and imaginative.

Our jackalope reaches for a star, or a spark, and is inspired in part by the dancing stars in Hayao Miyazaki's film Howl’s Moving Castle, which to us represent vulnerability, power, and heart.

Why Chispa?

Chispa, which means “spark” in Spanish, has long been one of our founder’s favorite words.

Jaclyn Avellán (she/her) comes from a family of Cuban and Mexican immigrants — individuals who are deeply enterprising and, by character and heritage, rooted in the service of others.

Her family is made up of people who exude independence and joy, who show up in times of need, and who know how to hold space for both crass jokes and silliness as well as incredible strength and indelible human spirit.

They are uncompromising where it matters, full of warmth in playful, loving moments, and willing to grow and to open their hearts to new possibilities.

Chispa is both a tribute and a vision: a tribute to those who paved the way, and a spark we hope to carry forward.

It’s a reminder to honor bighearted dreams, to build something meaningful and connected, to be brave enough to step into the unknown for the sake of love and progress — and ultimately, to create change that uplifts us all.

Our Story

Jackalope Collective came from a spark and a longing to create something beautiful, meaningful, and most of all, helpful.

I’m Jaclyn Avellán, and I founded Jackalope Collective. I have a working background in K-12 curriculum production, event production, and in therapeutic settings like ABA therapy.

I’ve always believed in the power of learning. It has been a light in my life. Through grief, change, and uncertainty discovery and connection have kept me going.

I hope Jackalope becomes a place where others can find that same spark and sense of belonging. And I hope that, through this work, I can build something that brings justice, equity, and a love of learning to others.

Whether you are a teacher, a parent, a caregiver, or someone who just loves a good printable (or the kinds of fun and curious treasures you’d find in a museum or a National Parks gift shop), I’m so glad you’re here!

Seasonal Activity Books

Celebrate, play, and learn with themes inspired by the seasons around us. Think of them as life connectors! Our Adventure Activity Books integrate STEAM-centered activities with screen-free fun for families, individuals, or groups. Each book weaves together prompts, games, and projects that not only explore science and creativity but also support social-emotional learning (SEL) to help children thrive and connect in everyday life.

Our signature mini-units that explore big questions and everyday wonders!

From “How Does Wind Work?” to “How Does the Mail Get Delivered?”, each installment breaks down topics into fun, digestible experiences for kids ages 4–12. Every booklet is tailored by age group and packed with STEAM activities, book lists, and resources to keep curiosity alive at home or in the classroom.

Companion Packs

Downloadable, age-aligned packets that pair with our shop offerings and Chispa content. Each pack extends learning through well-researched background information, crafts, experiments, and reflection activities. Aligned with your child’s developmental stage, Companion Packs encourage deeper learning by blending pretend play pedagogies with storytelling to spark imagination and strengthen understanding.
